Best Food Processors on Amazon (2026): 7 Picks, From 1.5-Cup Choppers to 14-Cup Workhorses
Short answer: For most kitchens, the Cuisinart Custom 14: a 720 W motor, a 14-cup bowl and a 5-year motor warranty. On a budget, the Hamilton Beach 10-Cup. For onions and garlic only, the Hamilton Beach 3-Cup chopper.
Quick picks
- Best overall: Cuisinart Custom 14 · 4.5★
- Best budget full-size: Hamilton Beach 10-Cup · 4.5★
- Best for dough and presets: Ninja BN601 · 4.6★
- Best mini chopper: Hamilton Beach 3-Cup · 4.6★
- Best mini for sauces: KitchenAid 3.5 Cup · 4.5★
- Smallest and simplest: Black+Decker HC150B · 4.6★

Chop one onion by hand and it takes two minutes. Chop six for a pot of chili and you start pricing food processors. The trouble is that Amazon’s best-seller list mixes 1.5-cup choppers with 14-cup machines that weigh 18 pounds, and every one of them carries a 4.4 to 4.7 star average.
So start with the job, not the stars.
Quick picks
- One machine for everything: Cuisinart Custom 14.
- Full-size on a budget: Hamilton Beach 10-Cup.
- Dough and one-touch programs: Ninja BN601.
- Onions, garlic, salsa: Hamilton Beach 3-Cup.
How we chose
We pulled the 12 food processors and choppers from Amazon’s Food Processors best-seller list on October 28, 2026, and worked out what share of each owner topic is positive. We then read lab reviews from America’s Test Kitchen, TechGearLab and Reviewed to see which spec claims hold up.
The picks in detail
Cuisinart Custom 14. It’s America’s Test Kitchen’s top full-size pick. Their testers got uniform mirepoix from it, though a single batch of mayo was too small for the blade to catch; a double batch worked. Reviewed liked its quiet “purr” and clean 4 mm slices but found shredded cheddar uneven. The discs don’t adjust, and the feed tube sits at the back, which is awkward under low cabinets. Owners mostly complain about cracked lids: 319 of 506 durability mentions are negative.
Hamilton Beach 10-Cup. Great hummus, bad manners. TechGearLab rated its pureeing 9 out of 10 but measured 96 dB at 3 feet and watched it leak when filled to the max line. Don’t fill it with soup.
Ninja BN601. The presets help beginners, and TechGearLab found its slices over 90% even. It made nut butter in 7 minutes, against 19 for the Cuisinart. The catch is cleanup. Its blade assembly is fiddly by hand, and 205 of 319 owners who mention durability report broken plastic.
Hamilton Beach 3-Cup. You stack the lid and press. That’s the whole interface, and 96% of 1,666 owners like it. The one complaint is uneven chopping: 287 of 1,160 mentions say chunks get left behind, so pulse in short bursts.
KitchenAid 3.5 Cup. America’s Test Kitchen named this chopper its top small processor for even chopping and sauces, while noting that oil can pool in the drizzle basin. Amazon owners are rougher on it: 463 of 1,541 functionality mentions describe a dud unit.
Black+Decker HC150B. Tiny and cheap. The title says 150 W while the spec table says 70 W, so don’t ask much of it.
Ninja BL770. Buy this if you’d otherwise buy a blender and a processor. Owners mostly use the pitcher, and they say it’s loud.

Who should skip what
Skip the KitchenAid 7-Cup. Only 18% of its 196 durability mentions are positive, and owners split on shredding. The Black+Decker 8-Cup fares no better, at 52 of 65 durability mentions negative.
Buying advice
Mini or full-size? If you never slice or shred, a 3-cup chopper handles most weeknight prep and lives in a drawer. If you shred cheese weekly, buy a real feed tube.
Watch the blade gap. America’s Test Kitchen found that blades sitting more than 4 mm above the bowl floor leave garlic and nuts untouched. You can’t see that on a listing, which is one reason lab reviews matter.
Save the blade from the dishwasher. The same testers warn that it dulls blades and clouds bowls over time.

FAQ
What size food processor do I need?
For chopping one onion or making a cup of pesto, 3 to 3.5 cups is plenty. For slicing a pile of potatoes, shredding cheese for a crowd or kneading dough, go full-size: 9 to 14 cups. A 7-cup bowl sits awkwardly in between.
Can a mini chopper replace a food processor?
Only for chopping and sauces. Mini choppers like the 3-cup Hamilton Beach have no slicing or shredding disc and no feed tube, and America's Test Kitchen notes small processors can't handle dough well.
Is a food processor the same as a blender?
No. A blender needs liquid and makes smooth drinks; a processor has a wide, flat bowl and an S-blade for chopping, plus discs for slicing and shredding. The Ninja BL770 is one of the few machines that does both from one base.
Why do so many food processors get bad durability reviews?
Nine of the 12 processors we looked at have enough durability mentions to score, and in all nine the negative ones outnumber the positive. Most complaints are cracked lids, bowls and latches, not motors. Hand-wash the bowl and lid if you can, and don't force the lid closed.

How we put this together
We compared manufacturer specs and Amazon listing details, read the patterns in Amazon owner reviews (we refresh this snapshot regularly), and scored each product with our published rubric. We have not tested these units hands-on. When we do, the page will say so. Prices change constantly, so we link to the live price instead of quoting one.
