How we review

Every verdict on this site answers one question: is this product worth your money, and for whom? Here is exactly how we get there.

What we look at

  • Specs and listing details from the manufacturer and the Amazon.com product page: capacity, power, materials, warranty.
  • Owner feedback at scale. We look at which topics Amazon owners mention most and how many of those mentions are positive or negative. A 4.5★ average can hide a reliability problem; the topic split usually shows it.
  • Independent tests. We read lab and hands-on reviews from testing sites, and cite them by name only when we've read the full review of that exact model.
  • Hands-on video reviews. We watch YouTube reviews by creators who actually used the product, credit them by channel, and embed the most useful ones.
  • The competition. A product is only worth buying if nothing similar does the job better for the same money.

Hands-on testing

We're building a hands-on testing program: we buy products and use them at home the way you would, then add what we find to the review. Products we have genuinely used carry a ✅ Tested by us badge, and each article's byline says how many of its products we've tested.

Everything without that badge is research-based: we haven't used it ourselves, and we never pretend otherwise. Those verdicts rest on the research below.

The three verdicts

  • Worth buying (8.0+). A safe recommendation for most people who need this kind of product.
  • Worth it if… (6.5–7.9). Good for a specific buyer; we spell out who.
  • Skip it (below 6.5). Something else does the job better for the money.

Prices

Amazon prices change constantly, so we never quote a fixed price. Every “Check price” button opens the live Amazon listing.

Independence

We earn a commission when you buy through our links. That never changes a score. Brands cannot pay for placement or a verdict.
