AEOCKY RHEA-001 vs Waykar 80-Pint: Which Basement Dehumidifier Should You Buy?
Short answer: The Waykar 80-Pint, narrowly. It has three times the owner base, a known two-year warranty when registered and a 30% humidity floor. Choose the AEOCKY if noise matters most or floor space is tight.
AEOCKY RHEA-001
4.5★ · 7,372 ratings
- It sits near a bedroom, office or TV room, and noise is your top concern
- You need a tall, slim unit: about 8.7 in wide
- You want more modes, including constant-humidity and sleep settings
Waykar 80-Pint
4.3★ · 22,795 ratings
- You want the longer track record: 22,795 ratings
- Your space is very damp and you want to set humidity as low as 30%
- You'd like a stated warranty: 1 year, plus 1 more on registration
Both of these promise 80 pints a day and a dry basement. Owners mostly agree they deliver at first. Then a big share of them come back, sometimes months later, to say the machine quit. So the real question with this pair isn’t capacity. It’s which one you’d rather gamble on, and for how long you’re covered.

The deciding difference
Reliability. Neither looks good. The AEOCKY’s durability topic has 754 negative mentions out of 949. Many of those owners describe a unit that worked well for its first stretch of humid weather, pulling plenty of water out of the basement, and then simply stopped running somewhere around the 10-month mark. The Waykar’s reliability topic is 66% negative, and its quality topic is 55% negative too. Owners report failures after a couple of months.
So read the paperwork. Waykar lists a 1-year exchange, extended by another year when you register. We couldn’t find a warranty term in the AEOCKY listing. Ask first.
Where they differ
Noise. AEOCKY wins. Owners rate it 94% positive on noise, the best of any dehumidifier we looked at. AEOCKY claims 44 dB on its lowest fan speed, and Waykar claims about 42 dB. On paper that favors the Waykar, yet owners side with the AEOCKY, which suggests its low hum is easier to live with than the numbers imply.
Shape. The AEOCKY is a tall, slim tower, 8.7 inches wide. The Waykar is low and wide. At 31 pounds, it’s a box that wants a corner of an open basement floor and stays there.
Controls. Waykar lets you set humidity as low as 30%, while many units stop at 40%. Useful for tools or paper. It also adds a 90° swing louver. AEOCKY counters with more modes: auto, constant humidity, continuous, smart drying and sleep.
Capacity. Ignore the matching 80s entirely. AEOCKY’s own listing admits 56 pints at 86°F and 80% humidity, and a 65°F basement gives up less still. ENERGY STAR’s conversion table shows how far ratings fell after the 2019 test change. We found lab tests of AEOCKY’s larger Rhea-003, but none of this exact model.
What owners say
Waykar owners are 90% positive on effectiveness across 6,382 mentions, a huge sample. Their mixed topic is water collection: 46% of 752 comments say it pulled less than expected. AEOCKY owners give it 88% on performance and 73% on moisture removal.
Our pick is the Waykar for a damp basement you rarely sit in. Choose the AEOCKY if you’ll hear it every day, and register whichever one you buy.

FAQ
Do these really remove 80 pints a day?
Only in the listings' test air: 95°F at 90 to 95% humidity. AEOCKY's own figure falls to 56 pints at 86°F and 80%. Under the DOE's 65°F test, ENERGY STAR says ratings land far lower than the old numbers.
Can I run either one with a drain hose?
Yes. Both support continuous gravity drainage through a hose to a floor drain. Waykar's listing contradicts itself on hose length, saying 6.56 ft in one place and 3.3 ft in another, so plan on buying a longer garden hose.
Why do so many owners say their dehumidifier stopped collecting water?
Some units do fail. A full tank, a frosted coil in a cold room, or a room already at the set humidity also stops collection. Check those before calling support.
Which one uses less electricity?
They're close on paper: 280 W for the AEOCKY and 270 W for the Waykar. AEOCKY claims ENERGY STAR Most Efficient 2025 status, which would mean more water per kilowatt-hour.

How we put this together
We compared manufacturer specs and Amazon listing details, read the patterns in Amazon owner reviews (we refresh this snapshot regularly), and scored each product with our published rubric. We have not tested these units hands-on. When we do, the page will say so. Prices change constantly, so we link to the live price instead of quoting one.
